Albertville, Al. (July 1, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC’s Albertville facility recently celebrated a milestone in safety and production by operating three million man-hours without a lost-time accident. “No lost time” means that no employee has missed work due to an injury suffered on the job.

DANVILLE, Ark. (June 30, 2008) – Employees from Wayne Farms’ Danville facility stole the show recently with a unique “Pirates of the Federation” theme at the 2008 Poultry Festival, held June 13-14 in Rogers, Ark. During the festival, teams from poultry companies such as Tyson, Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods competed against each other in a contest for booth design and custom skits. The festival, now in its forty-ninth year, is hosted by the Poultry Federation, a tri-state, non-profit trade organization with members from Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (June 23, 2008) – Following an initial two percent (2%) reduction back in April, Wayne Farms LLC announced today that it will cut production of its poultry operations by an additional six percent (6%). Citing the continual rise of grain markets causing an unprecedented increase in raw material costs, the company has scaled back operations.

(June 6, 2008) – Employees at Wayne Farms LLC’s Laurel facility celebrated National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week recently by hosting a luncheon for more than 150 local emergency service personnel including paramedics and members of local fire and police departments. EMS Week in Laurel was officially announced at the event in the form of a proclamation presented to Bo Gieger, Wayne Farms safety coordinator, by Jerome White, Jones County Board of Supervisors.

UNION SPRINGS, Ala. (May 30, 2008) –Wayne Farms LLC’s Union Springs facility has wrapped up another successful year of support for the American Cancer Society by raising $12,257 and capturing the area’s top fundraising spot for 2008. The company’s team, 35 members strong, concluded their fundraising efforts at the May 9 Relay for Life event at Conecuh Springs Christian School in Union Springs.

DECATUR, Ala. (May 28, 2008) – 2008 marks a milestone for Wayne Farms LLC’s Decatur facility in their support for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Although this is only the third year that Wayne Farms Decatur has participated in the Relay, the team has reached the purple level of fundraising—a distinction reserved for those teams that raise more than $50,000 to help the Society research the causes and treatments of cancer and honor those who have battled the disease.

DOUGLAS, Ga. (May 21, 2008)—Employees from Wayne Farms LLC’s Douglas facility have something to crow about this spring – the company is currently leading all other Coffee County Relay for Life teams in dollars raised for the American Cancer Society (ACS). To date, the Wayne Farms team has collected $10,613.82 to help the organization research the causes and treatments of cancer and ease the pain and suffering endured by cancer victims and their families.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (May 13, 2008) –Wayne Farms LLC invited members of local law enforcement to the company’s Oakwood facility earlier this month for a tour and a special training session on ammonia, a common chemical found in many household and industrial cleaners and a key ingredient in the production of methamphetamine. Thirteen members of the Oakwood Police Department visited the plant to learn about proper handling of ammonia and health hazards associated with the chemical. Bob Boren, area compliance manger, and Gerald Kowalke, plant manager, led the tour and discussion on ammonia.

DANVILLE, Ark. (May 8, 2008) - Again demonstrating the company's ongoing commitment to higher education, Wayne Farms LLC's Danville facility has awarded college scholarships to twolocal high school seniors-Malisa Mat Sani (Western Yell County High School) and Phang Lee (Plainview High School). Both received a $1,000 scholarship to assist with tuition and other expenses related to the first year of college.
