OAKWOOD, Ga. (October 23, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC, the fifth-largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the country, has received two prestigious awards for excellence in human resources. The “HREvolution Awards,” presented annually by the Ameritas Group and The National Provisioner, recognize companies in the meat and poultry food industries for innovation and outstanding performance in managing employee benefit programs that not only meet employee needs and maintain employee satisfaction, but also succeed in attracting quality employees, increasing employee retention and establishing the business/company as an employer of choice. Wayne Farms executives accepted the award on behalf of the company at a special ceremony at the company’s Oakwood, Ga., headquarters in August.

Oakwood, Ga. (October 17, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC will phase out its College Park further processing facility by the end of first quarter of 2009 as part of an ongoing focus to increase company operating efficiencies.

DANVILLE, Ark. (September 10, 2008) – Employees from Wayne Farms LLC’s Danville facility gathered with others from the Arkansas poultry community recently at the Danville Baptist Church to honor Sam Woodruff, hatchery manager at the Danville facility. Woodruff retired on August 15 after more than 16 years as manager of the hatchery.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (July 17, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC, the fifth largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the United States, announced today that it has raised more than $95,000 to date in 2008 for the American Cancer Society (ACS) through its annual participation in the Relay for Life.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (July 7, 2008) – To help celebrate a day marking the freedom and independence of the United States of America, several Wayne Farms employees and their family members were on hand at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to honor members of America’s armed forces. With the support of their company, and in partnership with the USO and Operation Chefs Unite, volunteers showed up on their day off to feed an estimated 400 traveling soldiers.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (July 7, 2008) - Tommy Myers, VP Supply Chain for Wayne Farms LLC was recently honored for his service as 2007-2008 Chairman of the Georgia Poultry Federation. The ceremony took place at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia where Executive Director Abit Massey presented Myers with a plaque and portrait commemorating his service.

Albertville, Al. (July 1, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC’s Albertville facility recently celebrated a milestone in safety and production by operating three million man-hours without a lost-time accident. “No lost time” means that no employee has missed work due to an injury suffered on the job.

DANVILLE, Ark. (June 30, 2008) – Employees from Wayne Farms’ Danville facility stole the show recently with a unique “Pirates of the Federation” theme at the 2008 Poultry Festival, held June 13-14 in Rogers, Ark. During the festival, teams from poultry companies such as Tyson, Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods competed against each other in a contest for booth design and custom skits. The festival, now in its forty-ninth year, is hosted by the Poultry Federation, a tri-state, non-profit trade organization with members from Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

OAKWOOD, Ga. (June 23, 2008) – Following an initial two percent (2%) reduction back in April, Wayne Farms LLC announced today that it will cut production of its poultry operations by an additional six percent (6%). Citing the continual rise of grain markets causing an unprecedented increase in raw material costs, the company has scaled back operations.
