DANVILLE, Ark. (June 30, 2008) – Employees from Wayne Farms’ Danville facility stole the show recently with a unique “Pirates of the Federation” theme at the 2008 Poultry Festival, held June 13-14 in Rogers, Ark. During the festival, teams from poultry companies such as Tyson, Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods competed against each other in a contest for booth design and custom skits. The festival, now in its forty-ninth year, is hosted by the Poultry Federation, a tri-state, non-profit trade organization with members from Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Wayne Farms’ booth this year took the form of an ominous pirate ship complete with black sails and smoking cannons. The ship was designed and built by employee Jack Stovall and the overall pirate theme was the brainchild of Nancy Frick, Wayne Farms administrative assistant. “We really enjoyed preparing for this year’s festival and are thrilled that we won first place,” said Frick. “Everyone did a great job getting the booth and skit ready for the festival and we’re already planning something even better for next year!” The Danville complex consists of a 90,000 square-foot processing facility and a feed mill and hatchery. The processing facility was built by Wayne Farms in 1970 and, with the feed mill and hatchery, employs around 1,000 people from the surrounding community.
