Wayne Farms' Woodruff Honored

DANVILLE, Ark. (September 10, 2008) – Employees from Wayne Farms LLC’s Danville facility gathered with others from the Arkansas poultry community recently at the Danville Baptist Church to honor Sam Woodruff, hatchery manager at the Danville facility. Woodruff retired on August 15 after more than 16 years as manager of the hatchery.

During his nearly two decades as manager of the hatchery at Danville, Woodruff oversaw multiple facility improvements and upgrades and ensured that the hatchery operated at peak efficiency.

“Sam’s contributions to Wayne Farms in Danville are almost too numerous to count,” said David Elam, Danville complex manager. “We’re so appreciative of his years of dedication and, although we’re going to miss him, we wish him the best and hope that he enjoys his retirement with his family and friends.”

At the August luncheon, Woodruff received a plaque recognizing his accomplishments at Wayne Farms as well a variety of gifts including a coat from Embrex, Inc. and a 50-inch plasma television purchased by employees, vendors and Wayne Farms LLC.

Wayne Farms’ Danville complex consists of a 90,000 square-foot processing facility and a feed mill and hatchery. The processing facility was built by Wayne Farms in 1970 and, with the feed mill and hatchery, employs around 1,000 people from the surrounding community.
