WAYNE FARMS PARTICIPATES IN REALITY CHECK FOR YOUTH

Union Springs, AL (November 9, 2009) - The Wayne Farms Union Springs leadership team recently participated in the 3rd annual Reality Check program facilitated by the Alabama Extension Center in partnership with the Union Springs Chamber of Commerce.

Reality Check is a simulation experience for 11th grade high school students offering the opportunity to select a job, family status, and make decisions on how to spend monthly income on housing, utilities, automotive expenses, groceries and more. The students and community leaders alike enjoy the experience, and the students walk away with an enhanced understanding of ‘real life’ financial management decisions.

Wayne Farms Union Springs HR Manager, Nicole Nichols says: “It’s always rewarding to work with our community’s youth. Our volunteers enjoy the opportunity to help enrich the lives and knowledge of students with valuable, hands on learning.”

The Union Springs facility consists of an 85,000 square-foot fresh processing facility, 23,476 square-foot feed mill and a 33,949 square-foot hatchery. The facility has been owned and operated by Wayne Farms since 1961.
