Animal Welfare

Wayne Farms LLC has very strict guidelines for every aspect of our business including the policies and procedures ensuring the humane handling and slaughter of every chicken.

Our Animal Welfare Program addresses the handling of birds at the hatchery, in grow-out, during transportation, and at the processing plant. Every employee who comes or may come in contact with our live birds is trained when hired and re-trained annually on Wayne Farms Animal Welfare policies and procedures. Our Animal Welfare policies and procedures maximize bird welfare and integrity. These were derived from the guidelines set forth by the National Chicken Council (NCC) and revised in 2010.

The Wayne Farms Animal Welfare Program has a comprehensive auditing program supported by both internal and third party efforts that focus on all aspects of our production system. Wayne Farms LLC takes animal welfare seriously and will not tolerate abusive acts to our birds. We place personal responsibility and accountability on all employees, growers and persons associated with the company, to fully adhere to the guidelines we’ve implemented.
