DANVILLE, Ark. (January 03, 2008) – Wayne Farms LLC’s Danville complex has joined the roster of local businesses that work with “Yell for Toys” to ensure that area children have a merry Christmas. During the company’s first year of participation, employees from all departments donated an assortment of toys and gifts worth an estimated $1,000. “We were thrilled at the response from our employees, especially for a first time effort” said Nancy Frick, who organized the donations at Wayne Farms. “Yell for Toys does a great job bringing Christmas to the children in our community and we’re happy to be a part of the work they do.” Employees started donating items such as coloring books, Barbie™ Dolls, and sporting equipment, on Nov. 26. All gifts were delivered to the Yell County office of the Arkansas Department of Human Services on Dec. 7 and were distributed to area children throughout the holidays. Yell for Toys has been active in Yell County for more than 15 years and draws continuing support from area businesses including Arkwest Communications, Chambers Bank and Chambers Memorial Hospital. The program started as a joint initiative between Child Development, Inc. and Noah’s Ark Childcare and is now overseen by the Yell for Toys Committee. Wayne Farms’ Danville complex consists of a 90,000 square-foot processing facility and a feed mill and hatchery. The processing facility was built by Wayne Farms in 1970 and, with the feed mill and hatchery, employs around 1,000 people from the surrounding community.
